Our exclusive 2-day program is perfect for those who wish to experience two of the highlights during their brief stay in Cusco: Humantay Lake and Machu Picchu.
On the morning of the first day, we will depart Cusco for Soraypampa to begin our short 1 hour and 30 minute hike to the impressive Humantay Lagoon, located in front of the majestic mountain of the same name. You will be able to enjoy the serenity and natural beauty that surrounds you before returning to our van and enjoying a comforting lunch before setting out on our return journey.
A private vehicle will be waiting for you in Poroy to take you safely to the Ollantaytambo train station, from where you will board the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Village), where your overnight accommodation is located.
On the second day, after enjoying a delicious breakfast, you will head to the bus station accompanied by your guide to ascend to Machu Picchu and begin your guided tour, which lasts approximately 2 hours.
After the visit, you will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes and then start the return trip by train to the station of origin. Finally, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cusco to conclude this exciting adventure.
Between 4:00 and 4:30 a.m., we will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco to begin this exciting adventure. We will drive for approximately 2 hours to the charming village of Mollepata, located in the lush valley of the Apurimac River.
Once in Mollepata, we will make a stop to enjoy a comforting breakfast and prepare for the next hike. We will continue our journey to Soraypampa, from where we will begin the ascent to Humantay Lake, which is located at an altitude of 4,200 meters above sea level. In case the hike proves too challenging, you will have the option of renting a horse to facilitate the ascent (this decision can be made on the way).
After approximately an hour and a half of ascent, we will witness the impressive view of the Humantay Lake, considered sacred in Inca mythology. Once we contemplate it, it will become clear why it is so revered. Afterwards, we will explore the glacial lake and take a brief rest before starting our descent back to Mollepata, where a delicious lunch awaits us.
After lunch, we will start our return trip to Poroy. There, your private transportation will be ready to take you to Ollantaytambo, from where your train will depart for Aguas Calientes at 7:00 pm or 9:00 pm. After the 2-hour train ride, you will spend the night in a cozy hotel in Aguas Calientes.
Today is the day to visit Machu Picchu. To make the most of it, you will wake up early and enjoy breakfast at your hotel before heading to the bus station to try to catch one of the first buses, which will start running at 5:30 am. The bus ride to Machu Picchu will take about 25 minutes.
If you prefer, you also have the option of walking up, which will take about an hour and you will have to leave your hotel at 4:00 am. Once in Machu Picchu, your guide will be waiting for you and will take you to the best place to contemplate the ruins and enjoy a panoramic view of the landscape.
You will then take a 2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, with free time to explore on your own. If you have tickets to climb the impressive Huayna Picchu mountain, your guide will tell you where to start the hike.
Once you have explored all that Machu Picchu has to offer, you will take a bus back to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy lunch. Then, according to your itinerary, you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo and from there you will be transferred back to Cusco.
