We begin in the Sacred Valley, a fertile and spiritually significant area that once served as the backbone of the Inca civilization.

You will be able to appreciate the special harmony between nature and ancient architecture. The Sacred Valley sets the stage for what is to come, offering a glimpse into the daily life and ingenuity of the Incas.

Visiting the traditional Sacred Valley

This first day we will visit the Sacred Valley. We will visit key archaeological sites such as Pisac and Ollantaytambo, each with its own unique charm and history. In Pisac, you’ll marvel at the sprawling agricultural terraces and colorful artisan market.

Then, in Ollantaytambo we will visit the city that displays impressive Inca ruins and an enduring way of life. These sites not only provide a deeper understanding of Inca culture but also present stunning views of the Andean landscape.

Itinerary

DAY 1:

Cusco - Pisac - Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes

This day is packed with impressive sites and fascinating insights into the Inca culture.

The day begins with departure from Cusco, heading to the picturesque traditional village of Pisac. In Pisac, we will explore the famous archaeological site, known for its impressive terraces carved into the mountain.

Afterwards, we will have the opportunity to visit the traditional Pisac market, bustling with activity and offering the chance to interact with local artisans and perhaps purchase some handmade souvenirs.

We will continue our tour by visiting the town of Ollantaytambo, an ancient Inca city that boasts some of the best-preserved Inca architecture in Peru. Here, we will ascend the terraces and marvel at the grandeur of the ruins, while learning about the strategic importance of this site in Inca times. Ollantaytambo’s unique design and the surrounding mountainous landscape make this stop a truly captivating experience.

In the afternoon, we will board a train to Aguas Calientes, the town located at the foot of Machu Picchu. The train ride will provide picturesque views of the Andean landscape as we follow the course of the Urubamba River. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, we will check into our hotel and rest before visiting Machu Picchu the next day.

This first day of the Machu Picchu Sacred Valley tour offers not only a journey through breathtaking scenery, but also a deep dive into the history and culture of the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu region.

On the second day of our 2-day Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu tour, we will immerse ourselves in the highlight of the Inca civilization: the mystical Machu Picchu. This day promises an adventure that will live long in the memory, as we explore one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

We will start early in Aguas Calientes, taking the first bus that winds along the road to Machu Picchu. As the sun rises, we will witness the breathtaking sight of this ancient city emerging through the mist. Our expert guide will lead us through the main streets of the ruins, sharing stories and insights about this magnificent wonder. We will enjoy ample time to tour the terraces, temples and gardens, feeling the presence of the Inca spirit all around us.

After visiting the city of Machu Picchu, we will return to Aguas Calientes. From there, we will board the train back to Ollantaytambo, delighting in the scenic beauty of the Urubamba River valley along the way. Once in Ollantaytambo, our transportation will be waiting to take us back to Cusco, where our incredible journey through the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu culminates.
