We will depart early from Cusco, heading towards the small town of Upis. As we approach Upis, the impressive Ausangate Mountain will come into view, setting the tone for our adventure. Here we will have the opportunity to relax in the local hot springs, a perfect way to acclimatize and enjoy the natural beauty.
After renewing our energy in Upis, we will continue our walk towards the first great challenge, the Arapa Pass. This part of the trip offers stunning views of the Andean landscape, with vibrant valleys and rugged mountain terrain. Upon reaching Arapa Pass, located about 4,800 meters (15,748 feet) above sea level, we will feel a sense of accomplishment and awe at the panoramic views.

We started the day in Hatun Pucacocha, refreshed and ready to face the day’s adventures. Our first big climb will be towards Puca Pass. As we ascend, the changing landscape will captivate us, with Ausangate Mountain as a majestic backdrop. Reaching the Puca Pass, located about 5,000 meters (16,404 feet) above sea level, will be a rewarding moment, offering panoramic views and a feeling of triumph.
Starting at Paso Puca, our path takes us to Anantapata, where we will find a different facet of the Andean landscape, marked by unique rock formations and diverse flora. The drive from Anantapata will take us to Warmisaya Pass, another highlight of our trek. Here we will pause to take in the impressive views before descending.

As we approach, the landscape transforms, revealing the fascinating colors of the mountain: a tapestry of red, yellow and green hues created by mineral deposits.
Located at around 5,200 meters (17,060 feet) above sea level, this natural wonder offers an unforgettable experience. Here we will spend time taking photographs and enjoying the stunning views.
After marveling at the Rainbow Mountain, we will descend towards Llacto. This part of the walk allows us to reflect on our trip and the magnificent views we have encountered. The descent is gentle, winding through the Andean landscape and offering a last glimpse of the beauty of the Ausangate region.
